Kings lock is the first traditional, human-powered, beam lock upstream of Oxford. It marks a peaceful spot where the Duke’s cut channel from Oxford canal meets the Thames.
The weir pool is deceptively tranquil, once the winter floods have passed downstream. Swans nest here, Sea Scouts enjoy the water and a few small boats sit on quiet moorings.
